However, we tried to conceive it in such a way that it can be used in the most flexible way, according to what we expected could be your individual needs. Of course, you can start reading at the front cover until you reach the back. However, you can also navigate through it using the Table of Contents, which we hope is sufficiently self-explanatory so that you will find topics and issues that are directly responding to your searches. You can also just read that part that meets your immediate need: if you are looking for a justification for the use of video in education, then the first chapter “Why I Use Video With My Students” answers your questions. If your institution or department is investigating the possibilities of using video, than “Thinking About Educational Video” may give you pedagogical ammunition in the decision making process. For individual lecturers and course creators, the following more practical chapters may proof more useful: “Using existing material”, “Creating New Material”, “Tips for Producing Video” and “Distributing the Material”. These handholding chapters are useful if you have the basic skills for video production, distribution and use but you are looking for additional advice. If you are starting from scratch, you may consider consulting “How to Acquire the Necessary Skills”. The final reference chapters contain “Further resources” on production of (streaming) video, and on existing archives of educational videos, as well as a bibliography.
